K9 Advantix remains effective after swimming or bathing. After repeated swims, it kills 97.9-100% of ticks and 92.5-100% of fleas. After bathing, it kills 97.4-100% of ticks and fleas.

    Our dogs spend a lot of time outdoors going on walks in the woods, in grassy fields, etc and we had tried collars, dips, other topical ointments and always ended up with ticks. Tried the Advantix based on our vet’s recommendation, and have been extremely satisfied since. One of our dogs did have an allergic reaction the first time we used it on him, but we called the Vet and they told us just to give the dog some children’s Benedryl. She was fine upon subsequent applications. As far as the poor customer service the other person wrote about in their review- I’m sorry they had a bad experience with the rep they spoke to, but why in the world would you call the manufacturer instead of your vet? Would you call the drug manufacturer if your child had an adverse reaction to a new prescription, or would you call your doctor? Only complaint is it is rather costly compared to other products.

    We’ve been using Advantix for a long time and it works great BUT recently we had an emergency with our small dog.

    I came home to find her eyes swollen shut. We’d done nothing out of the ordinary except apply her latest dose of Advantix the night before. We thought perhaps she had rubbed some on her bed and then gotten it in her eyes. While my wife ran the dog to the vet, I called the emergency help number for Advantix to see what they recommend should this be the case. After describing the situation to the Advantix representative, he told me in a most condesending tone that it sounded like “an interesting theory”. After repeating that I was just interested in finding out what we should just in case, he again refused to give me any sort of advice and instead implied I was lying. He sarcastically informed me that “it’s not like there’s an antidote”. Eventually I just hung up.

    I’m not sure why there is an emergency help number listed if Advantix is not planning on giving any help, but for all the other pet owners out there–don’t bother calling and don’t bother buying!
