I purchased this product when my dog injured himself…at the time I did not know that he had torn his ACL. I began giving him the supplements anyway after his surgery, but then I found another supplement that is better for dogs that are recovering from orthopedic surgery and put him on that one. This product is a good basic supplement for dogs that do not have significant issues but need a little extra support. It is one of the few joint supplements with a proven history of positive effects.
At the recommendation of my vet, I started my now 5 year old Chihuahua on this product when he was about 6 months old. Apparently, he was born with shallow knee joints and my vet thought this product would help with delaying or preventing the need for knee surgery. This product along with keeping his weight down has helped him tremendously. He really likes the taste of the tablet and he seems to maintain a high level of activity. I would recommend this product for any dog who has this particular problem.
We have a 7yr. old German Shepard and didn’t realize how old she was acting until we started her on this stuff. She has been on it for 2 weeks now, and runs around like she is a puppy again! We paid $50 at the vet for a 90 tablet bottle, but since it doesn’t need a prescription we will definitely buy from Amazon next time.
I was hoping my dog would like the tast and smell of these – but she turns away from them. I try to disguise them in her food- that doesn’t work either. I am out 35 bucks I guess.
I have a medium sized dog who is 10 years old. She has a deformity in her front paw to where she only has one toe and the claws are bend sideways. This has been a huge arthritis issue since she was a puppy. Recently, with age, it has been noticeably worse. When we would go on walks about 1/2 way through the walk she would start limping on her lame paw. My vet recommended that she take a joint supplement to help with the pain. She has been taking Cosequin DS at 2 pills a day for approximately a month and a half. This week I have dropped down her dose to the maintenance level of 1 pill a day. She does not limp any more on her bad paw and seems to have more spunk. she loves the flavor (they smell like meat and cheese) and when she hears me grab the bottle she comes-a-runnin’ (don’t tell her, but she thinks they are a treat)I would recommend this to anyone who is considering a joint supplement
