I purchased this backpack for my daughter’s energetic pit-bull mix. The backpack has come to mean, going to work for the dog! She loves it, we have put bottled water, canned goods, and various other household items inside and let the dog “deliver” the cargo to other parts of the house. She also likes to carry these items on walks. Her temperament has improved and she seems to be proud to have a purpose! She is calmer and more sedate both while “working” and afterwards as well. Overall I give this product an enthusiastic 5 star rating.
I had two major problems with this product – delivery and quality. When I initially ordered, the delivery time was given as two or three days. The order actually arrived nearly two week rather later rather than 2-3 days.
I ordered two of these. The fabric is fairly light, and the back pack actually came off the first time I put this on my dog to go out. I had put one small water bottle in and the stitching just came undone.
Very disappointing. I will go with the REI version.
I purchased two sizes of this backpack: one large for my German Shephard dog and a small for my Pomerian/Chihuahua mix. The large is perfect for my GSD. It reminds him he’s working and he acts so proud of himself.
The Pom/Chi mix is about 13 pounds and on the low end of the girth that supposedly the small pack fits. It’s not too bad around her body and I think I could live with the slack there but there’s no way possible to get the neck to fit snuggle—it’s way to big. It’s not worth it to send it back considering the price of it so it’d destined to be in a yard sale. Too bad because she could really use the training of carrying.
Don’t waste your money with this. The stitching holding the left saddlebag held for all of 5 minutes the first time I put weight in the saddlebags (about 2 lbs). Tried resewing and it lasted an hour.
I have a 38lb to 40lbs pitbull mix. I had originally gotten this in medium cause on their packaging it says 18-59lbs boy are they wrong it was way way too big medium would prob fit a lab 65lbs -80lbs. The size small fits well with the straps shorten all the way. As for quality so far no probs and she wears it every day on her walks with small sand bags to weigh down two on each side.I borrowed the sand bags from my hubbys weighted vest he has when he goes for a run. This gets her tired when we get back from our walks (2mi avg)shes tired and ready to go lay on her dog bed and nap.Shes high energy and this has been a fantastic tool. I def recommend but watch out for sizing.
