The bed looks nice and feels great, but unfortunately I’m not the one for whom the bed is meant. Barnum simply won’t get into it. I wonder if it’s because it doesn’t sit flat on the floor, so it felt wobbly when he tried it. With time (and use) it may sit flat and feel more stable. I may have to convince Bailey, our other one, to use it some. Then Barnum will get jealous and claim his bed.
My very spoiled pup has slept on our bed every night. We purchased other dog beds for her in the past but she never used them. After reading good reviews about this one, I decided to give it a try and she has slept in it every night since. She doens’t even wake up in the middle of the night and ask to get up with us! Great purchase!
Seems like every year I begin my search anew for a great dog bed. Bought this one last year, and while my dog does love it (she’s a good dog, she’ll sleep in whatever I give her), I would not recommend this bed to others for one reason: it doesn’t have a removable cover. It goes without saying that this is a very important feature in a dog bed! I’ve read here that others have thrown the entire bed into the washer and dryer? I have a large capacity (non-commercial) washer and dryer in my house, and while the bed does fit inside of it, it fits so snug that machines struggle to clean it. (I’m not one to take my dirty, fur-laden items to the local laundromat to use the commercial machines.) So after cleaning this bed for months by hand, I will be throwing it out in a few weeks as it has become to dirty and smelly to keep around much longer.
A dog bed should be big and fluffy, to protect my dog’s joints. It should come in neutral colors so it’s not an eyesore in whatever room it’s kept. It should be lined with a material that keeps my dog warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. (I have bed sheets with these properties, I think.) It should have a removable cover that I can wash, and that can stand up to repeated washings, (a lot of covers I’ve had fall apart after a few cycles.) And it should be filled with materials that don’t absorb odors. It should not cost as much as my human bed, but I would be more than willing to shell out the bucks for a bed that will last more than 6 months.
Where can I find such a bed? Does it exist?
Best pet bed ever! The previous pet bed was a memory foam flat sheet from Petco that cost way too much. Once I got this one, the other bed has been ignored completely. My 50 lb black lab mix fits perfectly inside although at first it took some getting used to and for awhile I felt that I should’ve ordered the large size. The medium is great. I washed it today and it came out of the washer and dryer fine, no filling movement or clumping.
Our dog loves this bed. It’s flexible enough to stretch out in different directions, but he loves to curl up in it. All our family members agree: we all wish we had one for ourselves!
