The North States Extra Wide Swing Gate offers parents an affordable choice for closing off a large area for either a child or a pet. The Extra Wide allows children and pets to be confined to an area where mom or dad will have total supervision. It extends up to an amazing 8.5 feet (103 in.) and stands at 27 inches high. However, unlike other North States gates it does not work with small areas at all. The smallest opening it can work with is 5 feet (57 in.). It is great for blocking off a porch or other wide areas. The gate can be removed with ease from its hardware mount when not in place. The North States Extra Wide Swing Gate can swing out of the way with ease when not locked in place.     We bought 2 of these because we have 2 really wide openings and were concerned for our grandaughter. Being that our openings were more than 60 inches, we were kind of limited to gates that are a bit costly. If I had kids daily I think I would buy a a stonger structure, it can be alittle flimsy.

    For the price it works for us just fine for us.

    I guess this is a case of getting what you pay for. It’s wide enough to cover the hallway area for which it was purchased. However, this thing seems like it’s made of balsa wood, extremely weak stuff.

    If your kids or dogs are likely to see the gate and stop, then great. If they’re likely to lean up against it or test it in any way, it seems likely to break to me.

    This gate is absolutely perfect. My opening is 86″ and I couldn’t find another solution for containing my two small dogs, that wasn’t nearly $200. They could knock over or push open the free-standing gates, but this one does the trick. Not only does it swing from either side, it also slides open and can be completely removed if needed. I couldn’t ask for a better solution. Thanks!

    It has a clean, neat, simple look and is very easy to put together and install. Its latch is pretty easy to manipulate, but even so, I really like that I can fairly easily just step over it if I want to.

    Great item fit the space exactly, Had a large 8’6″ opening and it does the job and doesn’t look too bad either. Keeps baby in living room and pets out! Good design though I wonder how it will hold up in the long run, could be a little beefier is my only suggestion
