These clippers are amazing! It was like night and day using these compared to the clippers we had been using on the dog — granted, they were intended for human hair. But these are quiet, quick and painless. It halved the time it took for me to cut my dog’s hair, and for that it deserves the highest rating. If I had any beef about it, I would have to say the attached blade is a little too short. My dog was shivering afterward!

The Oster Power Max clipper is the best clipper I’ve ever owned – better that Oster A5 or Andis Ultra Edge that now sit “retired” in a drawer. The Oster Power Max is comfortable to use, quiet (for clippers), and super powerful. I used them the first day they arrived to shave a severely matted Persian cat and after an hour of continuous use, the clippers did not heat up and become uncomfortable for either me or the cat. I’m really sold on these and so glad I finally found REAL clippers!

If these clippers clip to close for you, get a different blade. Most all clippers come with a #10 blade because it is the most frequently used. It will leave your pet with about 1/8 of coat.

Deciding to go with home grooming of our two Westies and then picking a trimmer was a long, hard research and seemingly risky decision. I knew about good, expensive horse trimmers from my youth and bad cheap home hair cutters. Eventually we choose this model for power, easy hand weight, Oster blades, and reliable reputation.

My wife and I are both quite happy with the decision and this tool/system. Our dogs are much happier being trimmed at home by us (note happier, not happy). We recouped the money well within a year. Working together, amateurs that we are, we can still trim a dog in 30 minutes. I do recommend washing and use of a human hair conditioner on the dogs before trimming.

It is good to have two metal Oster blades to swap out when trimming as they do get hot. Use the oil before and after each use and again if they get hot or seem to stick. The cut should be a gliding motion, not forced. The spring loaded plastic clips work well for shaping different parts of the coat at different lengths.

I was tired of paying high grooming fees for my Schnauzer so I purchased the Oster 2 speed clipper. This is a very good product with lots of power. Not too heavy for the hand.

Works great and cuts well on my toy poodle. Two speed is very helpful. I use the 10 blade that comes with the clipper for her face and I bought the 4F blade for her body. It is expensive, but worth the money.
