After many dollars spent on groomers, I decided to purchase the Oster A5 clipper for my two bichon mix dogs. I did lots of reseach before the purchase. These clippers really work but they are quite heavy and a little bulky for my hand. I was cramping up a bit while completing the trim on the dogs.

I have used this one in many animal hospitals and now as a mobile vet tech that offers grooming, I own two of these and love them. I let one cool and use the other, and keep switching. They are durable, and of high quality.

We have been using this clipper for several months. It is a quality clipper but could use a re-design as the ergonomics are lacking. The barrell of the unit is quite large and the ballance of the clipper could be improved. It definetly out performs the cheap clippers found in discount stores and is well built.

Did some research on hair clippers before purchasing the A5 two-speed clipper. Oster is the first brand come in mind when I looking for a hair clipper. Check other brands and models, they are cheaper but not as solid as Oster clipper. Buy Oster if you are looking for a durable hair clipper.

I have used this set of clippers for more than 10 years on horses. I would use these clippers on upwards of 10 horses every week throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Horse hair is far more course than dog hair, so it is truly a testament to the durability and quality of this product that they have only been replaced once. These clippers were used hard and knocked around quite a bit… I’ve always been impressed.

This product will last you a lifetime IF you take care of them and maintain them. Clean and oil your blades, grease the clippers. Dirty, un-oiled blades cause the motor to work harder and will shorten the life of your clipper. It is also important to do your best not to drop the clippers too often… if you do and your clippers do not turn on anymore, you can bring them to a professional who knows about clippers for a pretty cheap repair. I don’t know what happens when you drop them, but I’ve had to bring them in for $10 repair before. Worked like new afterwards.

I just received a new pair for my birthday to use on my dog. I anticipate them to last even longer and work even better on the less-course dog hair.
