The NEW Preventic 2-pack gives you the convenience of 6 months of protection and you save money as well. The PREVENTIC Tick Collar by VIRBAC is the only tick collar that detaches and kills ticks effectively. Each collar is effective for 3 months and is a good complement to Advantage or PROGRAM flea control when tick protection is also required. Recommended for use on dogs/puppies 3 months and older.DIRECTIONS : Place the collar around the dog’s neck, adjust for proper fit and buckle in place. Cut off and dispose of excess length. The collar must be worn tightly enough to contact skin and so the dog cannot remove it.

Living in Florida where bugs never freeze we need to use a product that is very effective. Prevent Tick collar offers that protection for us. Amazon.com had a great price and they ALWAYS give great delivery and service.

We had a tic problem on our yard and no matter what products we tried our dogs were always infected with tics. Someone told us about Preventic and while is a bit pricey compared to other products, it does work. We sprayed the yard and at the same time put these on our dogs, that was over a year ago and haven’t had anymore tics problems since.

OUR OPINION now, is “DO NOT BUY FROM ABSOLUTELYPETS.” We bought Preventic collars from AbsolutelyPets earlier this year. We had used the same type of collars (bought at our vets) that worked to kill ticks before biting our dog (or us). BUT, the collars that were bought from AbsolutelyPets seemed to not work. So, we took the collar and placed it in a container with a local tick which was sitting near the collar on our dog. We left the collar and tick in a container together for days and the tick walked all over the collar and did NOT die. Actually, it is still alive and moving around near the collar. So, I called AbsolutelyPets and asked for a refund. They said that their return policy is 2 weeks and since I did not return the product within the 2 week window, the collars could not be returned. I explained that the collars were still prior to their expiration date but do not seem to work. They said that they cannot be returned. I then asked if the collars were possibly fake? …or could have been deactivated due to possibly mishandling, storage or shipping procedures by their company? I asked because we kept the product in a cool, moisture free, dark environment and had not opened the containers until used. The collars were within the proper unexpired period and used by us properly (as directed). We will NOT BUY FROM ABSOLUTELYPETS in the future because of this experience. Other vendors are available. Kind regards.

We got a pretty serious infestation in the house, on the beds, furniture, etc. It’s been a real hassle to say the least. Ticks can really control your behavior. I tried lots of different things in tandem including:

    – Switched to frontline spray once a month – this is a little tedious. You need to treat your dog outside and use gloves when applying it. And it smells pretty terrible.

    – Pest control: The pest control company came and sprayed twice inside. The first time they came, they recommended that I also get someone to spray outside the house. I didn’t follow this advice because I don’t walk my dog (a Wheaton) in our yard at all, because all we have is a tiny patch of grass. The ticks came out of the woodwork but only went away for a week or so before appearing again. The third visit, I followed their advice and got another company to spray outside as well. A week later the ticks were back again.

    - Shaved hair: I had the groomer cut our Wheaton’s hair super short (short crew cut length) around her whole body. She looked pretty goofy, but it has had the benefit of allowing us to better see and remove any existing ticks.

Finally, I read the reviews of the Preventic collar and ordered one here. The collar arrives long and you cut it to length with a pair of scissors. It doesn’t smell the least bit bad, almost good. For about the first week or so after putting on the collar, we would see ticks dropping off our dog. They were still alive, but at least they weren’t biting her. Now, the ticks are gone. I haven’t seen a single tick in over a week, after typically finding between 5 and 10 each day. I think it’s the multi-pronged approach that has done the trick: treat the dog with front line to kill the ticks that have already dug in. Preventic collar does a flawless job of repelling ticks – they seem to simply jump off. Treat the house so that the ticks that jump off have nothing to feed on and no way to reproduce.

I don’t think this could have worked without the collar. A life saver for sure.

No ticks on our dog this year. can’t believe it. He has a very bad reaction to the liquid products available (ex – frontline etc) so we tried this collar this year. will use again and again
