Any pet owner who has ever watched her rambunctious pup tear up the living room like the Indy 500 racetrack knows that an untrained dog can wreak havoc on a home. Proper training is an uphill battle, but The Only Dog Training Book You’ll Ever Need cuts through all the frustration and boils it down to the basics. With useful tips and quick fixes that will put a stop to all sorts of bad habits, this easy-to-use book helps owners build solid relationships with their dogs based on positive reinforcement, trust, and obedience—not punishment or fear.

New and longtime dog owners learn how to :

· Use click-and-treat techniques to grab the attention of even the most distracted pup
· Teach a wannabe sled dog to quit pulling on the leash and start heeling
· Stop an overeager greeter from tackling visitors by teaching him to sit, stay, and lie down instead
· Deter a motormouth from chomping through every shoe in sight by encouraging alternate behavior and providing adequate exercise
· Beat a determined digger at her own game by building a doggie sandbox
· Help a fearful, clingy pooch cut the cord by boosting his confidence with consistent training

A must-have for owners who want to start their new pup off on the right paw—or those who need to curb their disobedient dog’s unwieldy ways—The Only Dog Training Book You’ll Ever Need is a handy and reliable guide that dog owners will turn to time and again.

I got this book yesterday. And what a waste of my money.

Tells you to take your dog to a training class!!! WHAT??

This was supposed to be a training book

This is way I had never bought books on the internet before.

I received this book in great time.

However I chose this book due to the reviews and that

It seemed to be speaking to me about my dogs behavior.

And that I do not believe in aggressive behavior towards any animal.

This book describes in great detail what I already know; that my dog is

Out of control, and chews and destroys everything. That “Marley and Me”

Gives a more than accurate viewing of what it is like to own the

well known “world’s best dog” a LAB…. as sweet and funny and charming as he is,

he is a Nightmare to handle or train.. I have trained dogs before, I had a great training book

once, but unfortunately was loaned out to never return.. I have never had a dod like this one,

And never owned the `great” lab before. Always heard that they were the best dogs,

This book merely states all the things my dog does. Not how to correct or to train, just

To get your dog into a training class, and to feed different treats,,

My dog already sits, stays, and lies down, then he will eat my whole house.

They do tell you, your dogs behavior is your fault in not giving your dog enough attention,,

and exercise. PLEASE- this dog gets all the attention, is never left alone, and is always running .

Very disappointed in this book, it was a waste of my limited money. It was shipped to me free

But I will have to pay more than I paid for the book to ship back,

So I have a new thing for my dog to eat

This terrific book gave my dog and I a great head start in our life together. My Cody was a wild 11-month old rescue dog living in a pack of other dogs at a foster home. He had no good manners, little regard for rules, and knew no obedience commands. I bought this book in preparation for adopting a rescue dog and it was the best investment to prepare me to be a pet owner. It helped me to set my expectations, understand the importance of training, and how to go about achieving my goal of having a well-behaved pet. I followed many of hte suggestions, and also attended obedience school. Today, three years later, Cody is a happy, friendly, well-behaved therapy dog who brings joy to many.

The book is in good condition and is exactly how it was described. The shipping did take what seemed like a long time, however there were no issues and overall, it was a smooth business transaction.

The only issue I have is that the box the book came in looked like somebody had played kickball with it, literally. The box was super smashed and more resembled a crumpled piece of paper than a box. I cannot think of why the sender would have done this to the box (or why they would have shipped it in such a beaten box), so I am guessing this is probably a result of the shipping company. It was really irritating though.

The book was in good condition though and I did not have any problems with the seller.

Saturday Dogs…and the owners they trained

This book misses the mark. To get a practical, step by step understanding of how dogs think, get “Saturday Dogs……and the owners they trained”, by Susan Overfield. She is Montana’s dog whisperer, and has been at it for 38 years, quietly changing dog after dog, owner after owner. Overfield gets dogs, and she gets people. And she does something traditional trainers don’t—she guarantees her results. Overfield trains using a relationship based, dog centered method. She is Montana’s own dog whisperer. She has trained rescue workers, breed groups, herding dogs, hunting dogs, dogs of every stripe, age, color, and personality. Her book is a delightful series of anecdotes which illustrate her method and how dogs think, using actual examples of dogs she has trained. The name of the book comes from her popular Saturday classes. Overfield trains around the country privately. She does fundraisers for rescues and shelters, and she also is acclaimed for speaking to large groups, including animal based trade groups. She writes like she talks, which is smart, witty, and unvarnished truth. Pick this book up here, or at her website: http://www.overfieldkennel.com. Watch the video. She is for real.

  5. Janet L. Hinkley says:

I was disappointed in this book. The book was mainly about clicker training which is not a method I use in training my dogs. Some of the information in the book was useful but there are other dog training books that I like better.
